1963 Chevrolet Impala Convertible

The owner of this particular car confessed to the ICON staff that he had wanted one for years, so when he got the means he purchased his dream car: a 1963 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. The car itself is equipped with a 283 small block, a powerglide 2-speed automatic, and a rusty floor. The owner also gave ICON some pointers on what he wanted: Large wheel and tire package, replace the floors and trunk pan, custom interior, a big loud engine, automatic transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, and to turn the car into an "SS" clone. Having those ideas gave us at ICON a direction the customer wanted to go. We therefore finished the entire build on paper first consulting the customer every step of the way to be sure our ideas matched his. The final build will include a 502 BBC that will receive an Edelbrock Fuel Injection system being chased by a 4L80E Automatic transmission. The stock differential will be tossed in favor of a Ford 9" axle housing to harness the projected 570 lb-ft of torque with a 3.70 positive traction gearing. The car will also receive Baer disc brakes at all four corners. Wheel choice has not been decided at this point neither has interior design. The only customer specified interior altercation is moving of the front bucket seats back 6". We at ICON surmise that being 7' tall makes leg room a very important commodity to have.

UPDATE: The Crate 502 has arrived after a few delays. The Edelbrock EFI system has been installed and the engine is simply beautiful. The interior of the car has been stripped in preparation for the floor pans to be removed and patched. The Engine bay has begun getting its strip job as well and the 283 should be out in short order. The 4L80E transmission is currently being built and should arrive in a number of days.
