1968 Plymouth GTX

This 1968 Plymouth GTX is owned by Mike Schultz and came into the shop needed quite a few things done to it. This car was originally a 440 4-speed car with no power options, having manual steering as well as manual brakes. Mike purchased the GTX from Utah, where road salt creates rust issues in many cars; this was no different. The GTX recieved new floor pans and a patch for the front driver side frame rail. The car recently recieved a 426ci Hemi with a 18 spline 4-speed manual transmission. Correct steel wheels and 1968 center caps were procured and put on the car, giving the period correct look to this car. Mike being the guy he is, he drives his car, so a couple improvements were made including upgrading the headlight wiring with relays and installing new style head lamps that greatly aid in night time driving. The master cylinder was found to be leaking so it was replaced to make this a safe and reliable beach cruiser.

The Hemi has been installed and tuned on a chassis dyno and tuned for good street manners as well as a lot of horsepower. The GTX made its way on a 1/4 mile pass and clocked off a 11.69 . An extremely respectable time for a street car that can idle all day. The hemi held together quite well and did not miss a beat except for encountering some valve float at 6800rpm.
