1968 Plymouth Satellite

This 1968 Plymouth Satellite recently had the engine bay stripped and painted. ICON was contracted to install a new engine, transmission, and reassemble the car to get it back on the road. The first issue came around while we were breaking in the fresh engine on our run-up stand, turns out cylinders #2 and #4 were dropping out as the engine warmed up. The issue was traced out and resolved. The K-member was removed, cleaned, and painted to look presentable and was fitted with a new manual steering box. The Satellite was originally a column shift model and retained its original steering column, however a console shift model was procured and rebuilt for a cleaner look as the car is equipped with a new B&M Megashifter. The wiring in the engine bay needed some work so the harnesses were disassembled, cleaned, modified, and re-wrapped for a cleaner overall appearance. While the harnesses were out, Alex wired in a headlight relay system that will drastically improve night time driving as well as performing other modifications to the wiring included the installation of an MSD 6AL box and newer style voltage regulator to coincide with the newer duel field alternator. Alex also disassembled the windshield wiper motor, cleaned, repaired, and detailed it before reassembling and installing it. The new transmission will also get a new cable kickdown linkage as the old mangled mess was not up to the task of controlling the kickdown. The rear suspension had previously had a set of adjustable front spring hangers installed, but at the owner's request the springs were shifted up to lower the back of the car approx. 1.5". The Satellite has has been completed and the owner is pleased with the result of our labors.
