1970 Plymouth Superbird

Mike Schultz owns this 1970 Plymouth Superbird in addition to his 1968 Plymouth GTX. This car was given a light restoration in the early 1990's and is considered a nice driver. An original 440+6 4-speed wing car, it doesn't get much better than this. This car has been given few upgrades in its tenure at ICON Engineering as it was purchased in good condition. General maintenance work has been done including a brake job, restoration of numerous small parts, and so on. Recently the numbers matching 440+6 lost a connecting rod nut and grenaded. The 440 was then swapped in from Mike's GTX and the bird was back on the road after a 2 day engine swap. The factory six pack was installed on the new 440 and all is well in the world again. The numbers matching block is salvageable and will be going back in the car as a 500" stroker motor. While the engines were being swapped, Mike and Alex thought it was a good idea to swap in a 4-speed Overdrive transmission based on the fact this car is in fact driven to shows including a recent show in Oceanside, CA - a 180 mile trek for the 'bird. The drive was no problem; Alex Campadonia reported a staggering 27mpg with "an occasional wide open throttle jaunt on the 405."
