1971 Overhaulin Challenger

Most of you will recognize this car, it is the 1971 Dodge Challenger from the first season of "Overhaulin". This car was indeed "Overhauled" but it still needed a few minor things addressed after the show so it came to ICON afterward. The 383 and automatic transmission were removed and a stout 440 big block was built to be installed. Chip Foose was contacted and he gave his "OK" to the swap as long as the appearance was the same. This necessitated painting the engine silver, using mopar performance valve covers, and using the march pulleys and brackets. The 727 had a severely worn clutch pack and was therefore rebuilt to handle the new found power. The engine and transmission was installed the night before the car's first judged show, the Spring Fling, all mopar show in Van Nuys. The Challenger pulled through in fine style picking up First place Modified E-Body as well as Editor's Choice. Other work performed included sorting out small electrical gremlins as well as fixing some suspension woes.
