1972 Plymouth Scamp

A 1972 Plymouth Scamp rolled into our shop one day for a restoration. The car was originally Gold over...     gold and was equipped with a 225 /6 and a 904 automatic. Considering the owner did not want anything stock about the car when done; but rather a nice "daily driver" type car that gets decent gas mileage and looks good, throw in some good handling and you got the idea. The car was disassembled and sent out for paint and bodywork - the gold was sanded off and it was sprayed with a dark burgundy per the owner's wishes. The decision on the base drivetrain was decided to be a 360 small block and 727 automatic transmission. The engine has been disassembled and is currently at the machine shop. The owner requested that the car be made to handle, which is currently being done. ICON has boxed the lower control arms, install subframe connectors, and rebuild the entire suspension with polygraphite bushings. There are also a couple tricks that will be employed to help make this nimble little A-body feel rock solid through the twisties.

The Scamp has at this time received sound deadener installed by the owner. ICON managed to install an A-body 8 3/4 Differential with a 3.23 Sure Grip unit. Wilwood rear disc brakes at this time as well. The front brakes consist of 11.75" Mopar rotors, Mopar aluminum master cylinder, and dodge Viper calipers to make sure this A-body can stop on a dime. The front suspension has been assembled with CAP automotive tubular strut rods and manual steering.
