A big THANK YOU to ICON Engineering!

Been busy getting the Camaro ready for SEMA and we were having a problem finding a gremlin in the rear electical system. Only one brake light worked, no rear parking lights or side markers.

Spent 4 hours jerking with it last Saturday with no luck. I called Mike Schultz of Icon Engineering in Hawthorn and asked if they could come out to the Upholstery shop in Agoura Hills and have a look. Without this issue fixed I can't drive the car and I don't have the time (or desire) to trailer the car all over creation.

Mike agreed and came over to Eric Thornson's Custom Upholstery to have a look. With him came Alex Campadonia (who's a board member here). The pair spend about an hour tracing through the cars system and eventually found the problem. A part of the rear loom was crushed in the accident and was causing the problem. We had also forgot to bolt the ground wire to the new back panel. Duh!

We had been trying to find a complicated problem when it was something simple. I asked them how much and they said "don't worry about it". It further affirms my belief that car guys are some of the best people around. They came out, saved my bacon, and the only thing they wasnted was a handshake.

I highly reccomend them if you need work done, good honest people. Big thanks to Mike and Alex!!

Dear Mike,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say “thanks” for all the great work that you and Alex have been performing on my cars.

When I first bought my ‘Cuda, I really didn’t know anything about cars. When something was wrong, I trusted a number of so-called “experts” who either didn’t fix the problems, or charged me an arm and a leg to do minor projects. You used to help me even before you opened your shop, so it made sense that I’d have Icon Engineering be my go-to shop. The good news is that now that I know more, I can really appreciate a shop with ASE certified mechanics. Your guys do a good job for a reasonable price, and stand behind your work. For example, when my 4-speed was shifting hard and popping out of gear, another mechanic told me my synchros were gone and I’d need to have the entire transmission rebuilt. With a change to ATF and some adjustment of the linkage, Alex got that gearbox back to rock-solid shifts.

One of my favorite things about your shop is that you guys are there when I need you to be. I can drop the car off early or pick it up late, and someone is always there. I’ve stopped by many a Sunday and someone always seems to be available to help.

Anyway, you guys keep doing that good work, and I’ll keep referring my friends to you. Can’t wait to see what my ’71 Scamp will look like once you guys put it all back together!

Best Wishes,

Mike Campbell

Dear Gentleman,

Thank you for the excellent work performed. The welding and body modifications performed to my ’72 Cuda’ and the replacement of my transmission case.  They are flawless.

After getting the vehicle back and doing a thorough inspection, based on the original dealer aftermarket installation procedure, you cannot feel or visually detect any modification to the fenders.  The fender appears to be factory or could possibly be stamped.  Neither being the case I have to commend you for a job extremely well done.

I am so grateful to you for providing me with transmission case and your expertise in the art of transmission function and repair. And to Mr. Campadonia thank you for your knowledge of that mangled group of wires Chrysler calls an electrical system. You have made it possible to drive the car without a Chrysler wiring harness.

Sincerely,

LaMonte Johnson
